Cote d’Ivoire Equity Market | 21 Aug 2015: BRVM Composite index 1.22% lower … transportation sector rose by 0.68%
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 304.27 to 300.30 points, a drop of 1.30 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 1.22 percent to 296.33 against 299.99 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 91 billion (about US$140 million) to close at XOF 7,312 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,403 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 706,903 traded stocks relative to 430,471 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,241 million (against XOF 1,185 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 244 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 614,726 traded securities (accounted for almost 87 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,562 million contributing nearly about 70 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 56.28 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.15.
Among the 29 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 13 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 5,375. BICI COTE D’IVOIRE increased by 1.11 percent at XOF 90,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 186,000 by climbing by 0.54 percent. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE price advanced by 0.54 percent to close at XOF 105,000 and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 26,105 with 0.40 percent gains.
CIE COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 4.17 percent to settle at XOF 80,015 as the biggest loser and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 3.80 percent to close at XOF 19,000. Likewise, VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.62 percent to close at XOF 66,500 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO dropped 3.33 percent to trade at XOF 11,600. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE price traded at XOF 70,200 after plummeting 3.17 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index went down by 0.34 percent at 164.33 points and public utilities sector index fell by 2.18 percent to close at 815.51 points. The distribution sector index plummeted by 1.90 percent to end at 531.51 points and financial services sector index plummeted by 0.08 percent to end at 106.57 points. The transportation sector index rose by 0.68 percent to close at 907.5 points. Agriculture sector index remained flat at 205.62 and miscellaneous sector index remained steady at XOF 561.79 points.
